Tanunda - The Heart of SA's Wine Region
You've all probably heard of South Australia's wine region, but, have you heard of a small town in the midst of the vineyards?
We took a drive through Tanunda to explore the town. We were quite surprised at how much it has to offer visitors!
Tanunda dates back to the 1850's, and the old homes and shops which were homes but turned into a store now reflects this.
You won't need to go far for almost anything you need, it's all pretty much at your fingertips in Tanunda.
From home and building supplies, to cafes and bakeries, supermarkets, specialty stores, even a library for the avid reader!
The caravan park at the end of the main street is situated on a corner allotment, giving so much room for travellers to rest when they arrive.
Tanunda is host to many events, welcoming guests to the town frequently. First to mind is the Valley Rodders Hot Rod Show, which is held in January every year, for an entire weekend.
Many of the wineries close by also hold events which invite families to get out and see what they have to offer.
The main street boasts shops either side, and it certainly wouldn't take long to find yourself something special to buy. Even a sweet shop and ice cream shop for the kids!
Beautiful parks with old gum trees and gazebos offer a great stop for a family picnic.
If a cafe or bakery is more your thing, you'll be pleasantly surprised at what Tanunda has.
Next time you're nearby Tanunda, stop in and see what it has to offer.
