Will It Be A Holiday?

Sharing is caring!

With all the planning, this soon to be trip, feels like it will be a holiday. No daily routines, no work, no sitting in the car on the way to your daily job that just makes you miserable. But will it be a holiday? Most of us would class a holiday as an occasion where we aren’t doing what we HAVE to do in our everyday lives, but more what we WANT to do. This time usually doesn’t last all that long, for most anyway. So, to answer the question, no, it won’t be a holiday, it will be your everyday life for as long as you choose to make it, or finances limit it to.

So life will be good? Many who are currently on their big lap or have completed a big lap would probably say yes. But, will it actually be good? Of course travelling to places you’ve never been and seeing things you’ve never seen will be wonderful, and what we all dream of being able to one day achieve, but will it be easy enough to adapt to living closely with your family in a small space? I am yet to find out.

Our van is a big van, but it’s tiny compared to the home and the acreage country property we currently live in. I guess we don’t plan on spending too much time in the van, when the weather is kind to us, but will we get bored when it’s raining or just too hot to venture outside? These are the sorts of things that we just won’t know until we are living this new life.

We can semi prepare by taking many short trips between now and the big day but there’s only so much we can prepare. I’m an Aries, and I like to plan and be organised. I don’t like the unknown and I dislike surprises, so the whole idea of just driving when you feel like it to change your surroundings is pretty daunting. Mix it with excitement, and my mind is like a bull in a china shop. It just doesn’t know when to stop.

We all have our reasons for embarking on such a journey, but why are we doing it? Many reasons would come to mind. For me, it’s seeing much of the amazing, vast country we live in. For Mr, it’s the same, but add to it the idea of not having to engage in the daily grind every day as he currently does now.

When I told Mr I thought I might get bored on our trip of a lifetime, he asked me why I want to do it then. This question woke my mind on the subject up a little, and I asked myself the same question. Why do I want to do this trip. My answer was to travel. But with the travel will come the times where we will be relaxing and not out enjoying fun activities. Don’t get me wrong, relaxing is good, but as I don’t often sit still, I find relaxing boring. Generally Mr will sit with his head stuck in his phone, scrolling through his social media accounts for as long as he possibly can, but I just can’t sit and do this as he does. So how will I come up with a plan to keep from being bored when we aren’t travelling or doing those fun things the wonderful towns have to offer? What can I do to occupy my soon to be abundant spare time? Answers are yet to come!
